We have long been admirers of the northern breeds. we have been involved with Siberian Huskies since the mid-nineties. Our kennel officially began in 2001 with Siberians and evolved to include exceptional Alaskan Malamutes, and then, the addition of award-winning (and very hard working) Canadian Inuit Dogs. Since then our kennel has turned its focus to the Canadian Inuit Dog for various reasons.
Recognized as the oldest Canadian Dog Breed, and the last Aboriginal Dog of the Americas, the Canadian Inuit Dog has verged on extinction for almost four decades. In the early 20th century, it was estimated that over 20,000 eskimo dogs worked alongside their inuit counterparts across the arctic…..fast forward to 2008 and an estimate of only 300 purebred dogs remained on the CKC registry.
They were once used as the preferred method of transportation by Inuit in the Canadian Arctic, by the 1960s traditional working dog teams had already became increasingly rare in the north……..this is why our focus changed, we decided to take it upon ourselves to ensure the survival of this beautiful hard working breed.
We strive to maintain the working talents of our dogs while producing the kind of quality that turns heads in the show ring. We also are very dedicated to producing dogs which are healthy, happy and free from genetic defects.
